At only 15 years old, Chise Hatori was cast out because she brings bad luck to everyone around her. She ends up being the main attraction at an auction, where she is sold as a slave for an exorbitant price – not to a common man, but to a mysterious creature hiding behind a mask: a magician by the name of Elias Ainsworth.
Elias bought Chise to make her his wife while also training her to be a magician. Because all the misfortune that has attracted her so far is due to a special feature: She is a “Slay Vega” – a “Beloved Child of the Night” and thus attracts fairies and other magical beings, who in turn were responsible for all the mischief.
At the side of the sinister magician, Chise learns more and more about her powers and has to come to terms with the fact that her fate seems already predetermined.
What to expect from Ancient Magus’ Bride: The Ancient Magus’ Bride not only has a really nice drawing and animation style, but also interesting characters with an exciting world and a lot of attention to detail. Chise’s training as a magician takes place with some dramatic twists and turns, and the anime manages to weave many well-known proverbs or folk tales into appropriate magical stories.

A gigantic hole gapes in the world: the Abyss. In its depths, ancient relics of inestimable value, hidden technologies, but also a lot of unexplored flora and fauna await. A city has formed at the edge of the Abyss, and explorers are descending from it, but many never come back.
Riko, still young, is only allowed to descend a few meters, but makes an interesting find there. She finds a robot boy whom she names Reg and is amazed by the technology that made his creation possible. Along with Reg, she sets out to descend deep into the Abyss in search of her own missing mother while uncovering Reg’s origins.
What to expect from Made in Abyss: Made in Abyss is arguably the quintessential adventure anime, as descent into the unknown is literally the content of this series. The world becomes more and more fantastic with every meter deep, but at the same time more sinister and cruel. The beings and worlds created here are bursting with creative energy.
However, a word of warning: although the protagonists are children, the series is in no way suitable for children. Some images and scenes are disturbing and will probably be remembered for a long time.
