Jack Teixeira, who served in the US Air National Guard for a year, released the Pentagon Papers last year. Texeira received a long sentence on Tuesday.

US Department of Defense documents leaked in 2023 Jack Teixeira22, was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for possessing and sharing national security information.

Reported about it including the BBC.

Teixeira was a member of the Air Force National Guard at the time of the leak. At his base, he gained access to top-secret Ministry of Defense documents, such as satellite images and intelligence.

Teixeira had been at a fairly low level in the Air Force personnel hierarchy, but he had still had a security clearance that allowed him access to top secret information.

Teixeira shared the material on Discord, a website popular with video gamers.

The leaked documents contained US intelligence on the war in Ukraine and, among other things, suggested that the US spies on its allies Israel and South Korea.

Teixeira apologized for his actions in court and said he understood his responsibility for what he had done.
