The 21-year-old gets a new dream salary in the NHL.
Adam Boqvist is perhaps not the most well-known name for the Swedish hockey audience. He received his hockey education in Brynäs, but made only 15 matches for the club in the SHL.

Instead, he chose to go over to North America to play in the junior league OHL, and there he did so well that he got the chance in the JVM, where during the tournament in 2019 he scored four points in five games played.
The year before, he had already been drafted as the eighth player in the first round, by the Chicago Blackhawks. During his first season, there were 41 games in the NHL for the team, and the following year another 35. But then he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets – where the big breakthrough has come.
That’s how much he earns
During his first season with the club, there were 52 matches and a total of 22 points, and at the end of the season it was not uncommon for him to be clocked at over 20 minutes of ice time. He has gained a lot of trust, and the club has shown that they believe in the promising Swede – who is now being rewarded for his fine season.
Last night it was clear that Boqvist will be rewarded with a new contract with the Blue Jackets, which will be signed over three years. It also gives a proper jingle at the checkout. Boqvist has so far played on a rookie salary, which gives just over ten million a year. But the new salary is worth a full SEK 82 million. The first year he will earn about 21 million kronor, and the following year 27. His last contract year then gives a full 33 million kronor.
It is not only a good deal for Boqvist, but also for the Blue Jackets, who with the new contract of three years have him as a restricted free agent when the contract expires, that is, no other clubs are allowed to negotiate with him.
