In 2025, this area is particularly advantaged by the dates of school holidays.
Every year, organizing vacations is a real headache for families. It all depends on the children’s school zone, between zones A, B or C, and the public holidays to be checked. This year 2025, one area in particular will be more advantaged than the others. We reveal the key dates for the school holidays in the official calendar for 2025.
The first vacation of 2025 will fall in February. Zone B will be the first to go on winter vacation, from February 8 to 24, followed by zone C from February 15 to March 3, with the opportunity to still enjoy the joys of snow in the ski resorts, which will not necessarily be the case for students in zone A who will be the last to go on vacation, from February 22 to March 10.
During the Easter holidays, zone B will gain an additional day of vacation. Indeed, the spring holidays which begin for this area on April 5 will continue with Easter Monday which falls on April 21. The resumption of classes will therefore take place on Tuesday April 22 and not on Monday as will be the case for the other zones A and C. Unfortunately for these two other zones, Easter Monday falls right in the middle of the holidays: from April 19 to May 5 for zone A and from April 12 to April 28 for zone C.
If zone C, which brings together the academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse and Versailles, will have the opportunity to take a break with the following public holiday of May 1st which falls on a Thursday, this will not be the case for zone A, for which Labor Day will still be integrated into its spring school holiday dates… Fortunately, all areas will then be able to benefit from the public holidays of Thursday May 8 of the Armistice of 1945 and Monday of Pentecost on June 9, automatically offering a 3-day weekend. Summer vacation will begin on Saturday July 5 for everyone, with classes resuming on Monday September 1, 2025.
In the fall, however, all zones will be in the same boat since the All Saints’ Day public holiday, the only black spot on the 2025 calendar, falls on a Saturday, November 1, included at the end of the All Saints’ Day school holidays: from the 18th October to November 2. Then comes the Armistice Bank Holiday on November 11, which falls on a Tuesday, this time outside the school holidays. Finally, Christmas will fall on Thursday December 25, again in the middle of the Christmas school holidays for all areas.
You have understood correctly, it is therefore zone B which includes the academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes and Strasbourg which is particularly lucky this year 2025! While zone A, which brings together the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon and Poitiers, will lose two days of rest.
