The 2025 budget defined by the government contains a discreet change which will impact many services, by generating price increases of 20 % for individuals.

This is very bad news that will hardly impact the purchasing power of many people: in a few days, the price of certain current services, such as Gardening or DIY work,, Childcare or tutoringor musical or animation performancesrisk of flying to no less than 20 %.

In question, an amendment Added to the finance bill (PLF) for 2025, which is commonly called “the budget” of France, which will radically modify a rule relating to the value added tax (VAT). The government having imposed the budget by force, via article 49-3 of the Constitution, the text will therefore apply very quickly.

In its final writing, the PLF 2025 drastically transforms The DRAT deductible diet. This mechanism, by which companies are exempt from payment of VAT on their sales, below a certain turnover threshold, particularly benefits micro-enterprises and artists, often precarious.

So farany company regardless of its size, benefited from the VAT deductible if its annual turnover did not exceed the following thresholds: € 93,500 for the sale of goods, € 41,250 for services and 55,000 € for the services of lawyers and artists authors. But now the threshold will be the same for everyone: € 25,000.

This new ceiling, extremely low, should switch to less than 200,000 micro-enterprises in the classic VAT regime, with a heavy impact in terms of administrative and accounting charges. Very worried, The National Federation of Autorships (FNAE) has also launched an online petition against the measure, which has already gathered more than sixty thousand signatures.

In addition to the consequences for the entrepreneurs themselves, it is the final consumers who will bear this additional cost. Indeed, Companies collect VAT on their revenue and deduce it on their expenses : Although this gymnastics represents a workload for businesses, it is the customers at the end of the channel who end up paying it in full.

However, many micro-enterprises carry out an activity in crafts, domestic or cultural services: Gardener, plumber, electrician, baby-sitter, hairdresser, illustrator or DJ for weddings and birthdays. All these particularly useful, and not relocatable services, will therefore or even increase by 20 %, for everyone, from March 1st.
