Avatar 2 continues to panic the counters. Only one month and one week after its theatrical release (December 14 in France, December 16 in the United States), James Cameron’s film has just crossed the threshold of 2 billion dollars at the global box office. A mind-blowing feat that we obviously owe to the positive word-of-mouth generated by the film, the only one to offer a unique cinematographic experience of its kind. At this stage, Avatar The Way of the Water is already the 6th highest grossing of all time, passing Spider-Man No Way Home and its 1.9 billion at the box office. If Avatar 2 seemed to have a bright future (contradicting all the predictions of skeptics who felt that there was no hype around the film), it was above all the speed at which the footage managed to rise to this level that amazes a lot of people. In France, James Cameron’s peloche continues to hold its own 5 weeks after its release, with nearly 11.5 million admissions. France is the third market for AVatar 2, behind the United States and China, proof that our country counts a lot in the balance of figures.
We recall that Avatar 3 is already filmed in its entirety, that it will allow us to discover a new people, that of fire (the Ash People), much more bellicose than the other Na’vis. James Cameron indeed wants to prove that on Pandora, there are not only good natives and that some can turn out to be cruel. The idea for Cameron is to reverse the roles, showing that there is also good in humans (those who come down from the sky). Recently, in an interview with Variety, James Cameron explained that JakeSully will be giving way to his Lo’ak as the narrator. Similarly, Jon Landau also revealed some details about the plot of Avatar 5 (not yet filmed, but already written), in particular the fact that Neytiri will go to Earth so that she can in turn discover the planet whose comes from Jake Sully. This episode 5 of Avatar is expected for 2028, if all goes well…
