The 15 best films of 2024 so far: We have chosen

Before we get started, here is a brief explanation of how the list of the best films of 2024 came about:

  • Only feature films that were released for the first time between 1 January 2024 and 30 June 2024 were eligible. Cinema, streaming, TV or home cinema launch in Germany had.
  • All Moviepilot editors were able to submit a list of 10 films, with first place receiving 10 points, second place 9 points, etc. In total, 32 different films in the race.
  • When evaluating the winners’ list, the number of points achieved was counted first, and if the number of points was the same, the number of nominations for the film was counted first, then the first place nominations and, in a further tie-breaker, the average rating of the film in the Moviepilot community.

The greatest cinema experience of the year for us so far was Challengers. But what he tells (and how he tells it) in this sweaty masterpiece about his tennis love triangle is simply breathtaking and incredibly sensual right up to the very last redeeming shot. The best film of the year, with which Zendaya even surpasses her Dune 2 performance.
