How many players have played World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, The Elder Scrolls Online and Co. over the years? According to the developers, Meinmmo has searched the Internet and found 10 active MMORPGs, for which there are official figures for the players.

For March 2025, Meinmmo presented you for the first time a top 10 of the MMORPGs with the most players on Steam. The advantage of Steam: Websites such as Steam Charts reflect the number of players on Valves platform quite reliably and comparable.

But what about the overall populations of the genre? Say: How many players have played WoW and Co. over the years? In order to answer exactly these questions, Meinmmo has prepared a list of online role-playing games that

  • on which there are reasonably current information on the total number of players from the responsible developers or the publisher
  • And who come to more than 4 million players.

    • Since such official communications only go live in homeopathic doses (and even for a long time not for every active MMORPG), you should not expect a full list of all genre representatives here either.
