Even a sure-fire thing often ends in a debacle. That is what happened to The Rookie spin-off The Rookie: Feds. Unlike his colleague Nathan Fillion, star Eric Winter the offshoot itself is responsible for its downfall.

The Rookie Star Knows Why Feds Failed

Winter, who plays police officer Tim Bradford in the main series, told RadioTimes:

Feds had his own flow, which was a little different from the original series. If a new spin-off comes along, it will be more in line with the cadence and flow of our series.

Winter remains very vague, but many fans will understand his statement as criticism: It seems as if he clears the others “Flow” by Feds as a crucial mistake, which ultimately led to the show being cancelled. He did not reveal whether a new spin-off is actually in the pipeline.

The Rookie figurehead Nathan Fillion recently gave completely different reasons for the spin-off debacle. In his opinion, the long-running strike by Hollywood actors and writers in 2023 was responsible for the spin-off’s demise.

The police series The Rookie has been running since 2018 and now has six seasons. Feds started in 2022. The spin-off revolves around 48-year-old ex-guidance teacher Simone (Niecy Nash-Betts), who begins a new career as an FBI special agent.
