It was during Saturday’s competition in Malmö that David Alcer from the climate activist group Restore Våtmarker ran onto the stage and interrupted Loreen’s performance. He and two other members of the group were removed from the arena and police are now investigating whether they were guilty of trespassing.
Encouraged by colleagues
By day, David Alcer is doing his doctorate at Lund University. On Monday, he was back at the university teaching about solar cells. He says he has only received positive reactions from his colleagues.
– They have been very positive about it, they are happy that I did something, he says.
How much did you do it as a researcher and how much did you do it as an activist?
– I was probably the most activist in that situation, he says.
The university is not behind it
Lund University writes in an email that their employees have great freedom to think and think what they want and that as an employer you do not get involved in what the employees do as private individuals.
– However, it is important to emphasize that Lund University is not behind any kind of illegal or undemocratic actions such as sabotage, writes Lund University in an email to SVT Nyheter Skåne.
