TV4’s long-running “Idol” is back with its twentieth season.
Apart from being entertaining for the audience to watch, the show has also found budding stars like Darin, Loreen, Danny Saucedo, Hanna Ferm and Måns Zelmerlöw.
The changes in this year’s Idol
Ahead of the 20th anniversary, the program has made some changes. Typically, the show has aired Monday through Thursday during auditions, then transitioning to only Friday finals later in the season. This year, the broadcast days have been changed to only be Saturdays.
“We believe that Idol will develop further when the program is now renewed and becomes the autumn’s big Saturday entertainment”, comments Fredrik Arefalkchannel and content director at TV4, in a press release.
There have also been a lot of changes in the jury. The jurors Kishti Tomita and Alexander Kronlund has had to leave the program and is replaced by Peg Parnevik and Ash Pournouri. And that TV4 has brought in a new presenter.

The host Pär Lernström is strongly associated with Idol and has led the program through a full 13 seasons.
But those who follow the program have probably noticed that he is missing from the box during the final audition.

TV4 confirms that Lernström is missing from Idol because he is recording another program.
“Pär recorded the Chefs’ Battle in connection with the year’s final audition. That’s why Mauri is the sole presenter. Pär is of course back during the Saturday finals, which start now in October,” they write in a message to Hänt.
In the meantime, Mauri Hermundsson gets to shoulder the role of presenter himself until Pär Lernström is back.
