Swedish hockey’s greatest was awarded on Thursday evening.
But one of the very biggest never showed up at the party.
Now the truth comes out why Mats Sundin was missing at the “Tidernas hockey gala”.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association had invited a big party on Thursday evening in Avicii Arena. Swedish hockey’s biggest names were invited and were awarded several fine awards during the evening.
Sundin was missing
But one of our country’s greatest players was completely missing when Swedish hockey celebrated 100 years. For Mats Sundin never showed up on the night even though he was invited and his absence raised speculation and question marks in hockey Sweden.

The 51-year-old never appeared with the other legends on the red carpet before and the television cameras never caught his face during the broadcast on SVT. Even when “Sudden” was awarded with double awards for “All-star team of all time” and “National team of all time”, he was missing on stage.

After the hockey gala, the association reveals the truth about Sundin’s absence and that it was because he was “crazy” on the same day.
– So he stayed at home, says the association’s press officer Otto Marand to SportExpressen.

Also another hockey legends in Mikael Renberg was completely missing during the hockey gala in Avicii Arena. The SVT profile should have worked on the broadcast but was also ill and could not participate.
