Johanna Skottheim was forced to break the last race in tears.
For the new World Cup weekend, the 28-year-old is completely missing from the blue-and-yellow national team squad.
Now comes the explanation for the Swede’s absence.

When the national biathlon team announced the new squad for the World Cup competitions in Ruhpolding, the big news was that Stina Nilsson poked for the first time this season. But even one name was preferably missing from the squad selection.

Skottheim’s tears

Namely Johanna Skottheim who had a tough weekend in Pokljuka last time. The 28-year-old did not get it at all during the start of the chase and missed five times during the first two shootings.

Which led to the compatriot Elvira Öberg lapped her and Skottheim was forced to break the race. After the start of the hunt, the Swede was in tears and refused to comment on what had happened.

Skottheim’s name was then not included in either the squad for the World Cup or the squad for the IBU Cup that was made public on Tuesday. Now comes the explanation for the Swede’s unexpected absence.
– Johanna has gone home to Sweden now. She needs to train and find the right feeling again. We expect her to be back and competing at the EC in Lenzerheide at the end of January, says the national team’s head coach John Luke in an official press release.

Biathlon European Championship in Lenzerheide starts on January 25 and runs until January 29. So far in her career, Johanna Skottheim has taken one individual podium at the World Cup and three relay podiums, but she has yet to win a championship medal.
