That’s why I thought it was allowed

When IFK Värnamo started training in January, Pawel Cibicki was on the pitch. Something that turned out to be against the rules for the four -year closure for match fixing. Which has led to the Football Association’s lawyers reporting both Cibicki and Värnamo to the union’s disciplinary committee.

On Monday, the Football Channel was in contact with Pawel Cibicki who referred to his lawyers Philip Alouch and lawyer Simon Kjellstrand at Olsson Lilja lawyers in Stockholm.

Breaks the silence

In an exclusive statement, Cibicki now breaks the silence about what has happened, via Alouch and Kjellstrand.

“Neither the association nor Pawel have in any way tried to hide his participation in training. It is clear that both parties have not intended to circumvent the regulations. It all is based on an unfortunate misunderstanding, ”the lawyers write.

On Monday, they submitted an opinion for Pawel Cibicki to the union’s disciplinary committee. You turn to the threat of a new suspension, and where according to the regulations it can be a new and as long suspension as the one he got for match fixing.

“Our position is that it would be both unpopular and disproportionate to extend Pawel’s suspension due to a negligent one -off phenomenon without connection to match fixing undertaken when about two of the shutdown period’s total 208 weeks remained,” says Alouch and Kjellstrand.

“The fact that Pawel subsequently accepted the association’s invitation to participate in the training is due to an incorrect view that such participation was permitted within one month before the termination of the suspension as well as applies to a doping suspended athlete.”

The lawyers continue:

“Neither Pawel nor the association has had any intent to violate the suspension decision. On the contrary, it has been completely negligent and Pawel is obviously very sad about what happened ”.

Pawel Cibicki has been suspended from all football – both match and training – since February 2021 for taking a yellow card with diligence in an all -Swedish match against Kalmar FF when he represented Elfsborg in 2020. The suspension is valid until 2 February.

He was also convicted of the match fix even in the High Court, which judged him guilty for taking bribery and game offenses, when, according to the judgment, he received money to take the card – something that several people invested money on.

“Has 100 percent done it”

For a long time, Pawel Cibicki denied having committed a crime, but in an interview with Aftonbladet a month ago, he admitted guilty:

– I’ve done it, I’ve done 100 percent. It did not go into the way that the prosecutor said, but I still did, he said in the interview.

Pawel Cibicki’s lawyers do not want to go into more about the case but say:

“After serving his sentence, Pawel just wants to return to doing what he loves the most – playing football. Otherwise, we do not want to comment on the matter further pending the disciplinary board’s examination ”.

IFK Värnamo has previously announced that they do not want to comment on the ongoing case.
