When the Bond star Daniel Craig recorded the film “Girl with the dragon tattoo” it was none other than our Swedish star chef Erik Videgård who was given the task of cooking which would both appear in the film but which would also build Craig up for the role of Bond in the film Skyfall which would be shot shortly after.

In this year’s “Cooks’ Battle” it is Erik Videgård who opens the season with an evening in his own honor. He then tells Craig that he and he spent nine months together.
– I was hired by the director David Fincher to make all the food for the film. Among other things, they will eat a duck in the film that will look quite “murderous”. So I made a duck which I roughed up properly. They were super happy so it ended up that the entire screen was covered with MY duck, he says.

– We recorded on a farm in Katrineholm. So I lived there with them and worked for nine months. One day Daniel and I were sitting in the car and driving. He likes David Bowie and I like Bowie. So one day we pulled Lady Stardust over and sat and screamed together in the car, it was an experience to say the least.

It was about 15 years ago that Erik discovered that he had a wound deep in the back of his throat. It all turned out to be cancer on the left tonsil. He talked about this during his first round in the Chefs’ Battle in 2017.

– They irradiated the area and I received lots of chemotherapy. Then one night I wake up from my jaw coming off. That in turn meant that I had to have surgery and they took calf muscles and a piece of the leg and then put it here instead of the jaw.
He told me that he quit smoking at the same time.
– I gave up smoking here and got better taste buds than before.
– Nemen what are you saying? NO TASTE TESTS MAY BE RUN THEN!, shouted Tareq Taylor out and the table started laughing.
