That’s why Calle Halfvarsson is now nobbing the World Cup

Calle Halfvarsson is in charge of this weekend’s World Cup competitions in skiing in Goms, Switzerland.
“He hasn’t felt 100 in his body during the last few races,” says national team manager Anders Byström.

Calle Halfvarsson fell ill with covid-19 just before Christmas, but he still chose to ride the Tour de Ski that started at New Year’s. But neither the tour nor the competitions afterwards were any success for the 34-year-old who even broke the mass start race in Oberhof on Saturday.
“He chooses to stand over this weekend as his body has not felt completely 100 during the last races. He therefore chose to travel home after Oberhof to train and prepare for upcoming competitions,” says Anders Byström.

Johanna Hagström is back in the Swedish squad and Moa Ilarwho missed the Oberhof competitions due to a cold, is back on his feet.

Olof Jonsson gets the chance after winning a sprint race in Falun recently. He has only run one World Cup race earlier this winter, the sprint in Östersund in December.

In Goms, a mixed relay awaits on Friday, a sprint on Saturday and a 20 km freestyle on Sunday.
