That’s why Armand Duplantis nods the Swedish national team again – but Daniel Ståhl does the opposite and is widely praised

The team EC for the Swedish athletics national team is soon to come.
Unfortunately without the world star Armand Duplantis but with an in-form Daniel Ståhl.
– Very fun, he is always incredibly supportive of the national team, says national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist at a press conference.

In a week it will be time for the Swedish athletics elite to go to Poland to compete in the team European Championships. Included in the Swedish squad are high-profile names such as the new high jumper Bianca Salming and the discus thrower Daniel Ståhl.

Ståhl agrees

24-year-old Salming impressed already in her first competition as a pure high jumper and broke a new year’s best in Sweden with 1.88 m during the weekend’s competition in Sollentuna.
– Bianca is already very good at high jump, and also has great development potential, so she is ready for the team, says the national team’s national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist at a press conference according to Sportbladet.

Ståhl has also found storm form again with two straight victories within a few days and the most impressive is with two straight throws over the 70-meter mark.
– It’s damn fun that Daniel Ståhl is there, continues to throw over 70 meters, super fun. And he is always incredibly supportive of the national team and is involved, says Kajsa Bergqvist in a tribute to the 30-year-old.

Duplanti’s knobs

But one who is not included is the Swedish world star Armand Duplantis. Just like the indoor EC earlier this year, “Mondo” chooses to stand over the championship and turn down the Swedish national team.

Instead, Sweden sends William Asker as a representative in the men’s pole vault.
– Mondo is in a very special situation as one of the world’s best athletes, there is great demand for him to be with both here and there. Based on the discussions we had, Finnkampen was the most important, I really wanted him there. Fortunately, he wanted it too, but the team EC was too much, admits national team captain Bergqvist at the press conference.

Nor Henrik Larsson who on Tuesday set a new Swedish record in the 100 meters will come with him to Poland to represent Sweden in the team European Championships. Even there, there will be far too many competitions in a short time, see the entire blue-and-yellow squad below.
