That’s why Armand Duplantis is stopped – “Mondo” appeals to the Swedish people: “I think that…”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

He is one of Swedish sports’ greatest right now.
Armand Duplantis has also opened up about how much he likes to jump out on the town.
But “Mondo” is now stopped in his own hometown of Stockholm.

The racing season is over for Armand Duplantis for this year. In 2022, there was WC gold indoors, WC gold outdoors and most recently EC gold outdoors, as well as four broken world records.

Mondo’s success

An absolutely incredible result from the 22-year-old who continues to be one of the world’s top track and field athletes. Alongside the successes in pole vaulting, there is also a matter of the heart for “Mondo” – namely to jump more city competitions.

During the Diamond League competition in Lausanne last summer, Duplantis jumped in front of large crowds outside the city, instead of inside an arena. The Swedish star loved it and now hopes to be able to compete more times out on the streets and squares.
– I think the city competitions are super cool. It creates a completely different experience and it can appeal to more people, who might not watch otherwise. The city races are fantastic and I really enjoy it, said “Mondo” at a recent press conference.

Stop in Sthlm

The Diamond League final in Zurich also had several events outside the arena, including the women’s pole vault. On Twitter, Duplantis has also appealed to his thousands of followers that Stockholm should have a pole vaulting competition outside in an urban environment.

But in the home city of Stockholm, “Mondo” is now being stopped. When the Diamond League competition is arranged in the Swedish capital next year, he is forced to jump inside the Stadium, when the organizer refuses to move the pole vault competition to a city environment.
– There is no formal obstacle, but as it is now we would like to have Mondo Duplantis at Stockholm Stadium above all, says the competition director Jan Kowalski to Radiosporten.

The competition director still opens a small door for Armand Duplanti’s dream of a street party mostly pole vaulting in Stockholm.
– In addition to getting the audience to come to us, we also have to get to the audience, to come out so they can see our sport and our business. What you have to look at is finding some additional opportunity when it would be appropriate for him to jump, Kowalski tells the radio channel.

Surely it would have been cool to see Armand Duplantis jumping on the streets of Stockholm? Share the article and have your say!
