Streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm was permanently banned from Twitch in 2020 and has been streaming on YouTube without an exclusive contract ever since. Now he’s hinting he’d join Kick for $50 million. Kick’s CEO confirms they are in talks with his team.
This is the situation of DrDisrespect:
He now calls this number: On June 22, DrDisrespect posted a tweet that read, “50 million is my number.” The tweet went viral and has been viewed 21 million times.
The tweet is seen as an offer to Kick that DrDisrespect would switch for $50 million, half what xQc is said to have received. The Canadian had recently signed with the new streaming service.
Kick CEO says: We are in talks with the team
This is what the CEO of Kick says: Kick’s CEO, Ed Craven, was directly approached about DrDisrespect in an interview on June 24th.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of DrDisrespect, for a long time, as well as I’m a fan of many streamers. I grew up watching live streams, been a part of the community since I was in high school. The odds of working with these guys is so damn cool. Doc is one of them.
Doc is someone we would love to work with. We’re talking to his team. We talk to everyone.
He says they want to bring people over and give streamers what they’re worth.
CEO of Kick is a billionaire at 27, also founded online casino Stake
Who is the CEO of Kick? Edward Craven is an Australian billionaire. He founded an online gambling game in 2013 that allowed people to bet using cryptocurrencies. He later founded the companies Easygo and the online casino Stake.
Kick is now his latest project.
As the site Sportskeeda points out:
How is this seen? Apparently, Kick is interested in signing DrDisrespect – but not necessarily for $50 million.
Ultimately, DrDisrespect is in a much worse negotiating position than xQc or Amouranth, both of which had a working business model on Twitch, due to his situation that he was banned from Twitch and streams on YouTube without a contract.
German streamer MontanaBlack also said he doesn’t think DrDisrespect is “worth” that much money.
It’s not so much about the number of viewers or the quality of its streams, but about the fact that DrDisrespect currently has no other way to cash in big again apart from Kick. Otherwise he would have signed a big deal with YouTube or somewhere else in recent years.
