For News24 Sonja told me that it went at breakneck speed, from the time she was contacted by the production until she actually became this year’s “Bachelorette”.
– I was cast for this. One person contacted me via my Instagram, and asked if I wanted to come and meet them. And I thought it was a joke at first, says Sonja.

In the end, Sonja agreed to a meeting, and about a month later she found out that the channel wanted to see her looking for love on television. Before that, Sonja had never seen “Bachelorette”, but during the casting process she decided to watch the previous season as well Olivia Birgersson.
– Then I saw Oliva’s season and thought she was a fantastic person. She seems to be herself, and for me it was very important to be able to be my whole self, explains Sonja and continues:
– The important thing for me was that they wouldn’t angle me in a way that I might not really stand for. And it didn’t feel like they had done that with Olivia. So then I thought: “I can do this!”.

Sonja further explains that she had a busy schedule to say the least during the filming in Mexico. It meant that her and Edvin’s paths did not always cross, as often as she would have hoped.
– But the occasions we had together were always incredibly wonderful. We always had great fun. Sometimes they (the production ed. note) had to come in and say: “It’s not you who should date. So sit down in the boat”. There was great jargon between us.
