Frida Karlsson will not start in all World Cup competitions this winter. The 22-year-old now says that she is opting out of several competitions in the coming season.
– That is not my goal, she says.
Frida Karlsson is looking for a big revenge this season. The former was not quite what the 22-year-old had hoped for, where during the Olympic championship in Beijing she was not in top form and was unrecognizable.

This year Frida Karlsson hopes to rise again, and during the pre-season the Swede has made several controversial decisions. Among other things, she chose, together with close friend Maja Dahlqvist, to drop out of the national team’s training group. Instead, she will pursue her own venture towards the WC in Slovenia after the turn of the year.
Now Frida Karlsson also says that she is opting out of several World Cup competitions this winter. Instead, she will completely focus on the WC.
– I will opt out of competitions. If the World Cup had been important, I would not have chosen them. I will see the competitions (in the World Cup) as a step towards the WC, says the star to SVT Sport.
“Like having such a goal”
Ahead of this season, the points system in the World Cup has been redesigned, and it will be extra important to ride as many races as possible. Now they get the top 50 points, previously it was the top 30.
– Next year, championship-free. Then there will be full focus on the World Cup. But this year it’s the WC that tingles more in the stomach. I like having such a goal, says Frida Karlsson.
The 22-year-old, on the other hand, says that she plans to include the Tour de Ski in the schedule.
– I’m still quite keen on it. I think it is quite well timed. You get a training period after that, she says.
