This is how you should post the cleaning

First of all, you should set up a cleaning schedule. It is both good for making sure that the cleaning is not forgotten and for dividing the chores fairly between the people in the household.

– Establishing a cleaning schedule is an excellent way to know when to clean what. Especially if there are more people in the family, it is important to divide the household chores so as not to risk that one person has to do everything, Marléne Eriksson explains to News24.

Cleaning checklist – example

Here is a checklist you can be inspired by when setting up a cleaning schedule.

What is better, cleaning a little all the time or having a major cleaning a week?

    – Cleaning an entire home is time-consuming. Major cleaning means cleaning very thoroughly from top to bottom – from ceiling to floor. Instead, it is much easier to tackle one area or room at a time and work methodically.

    – But having said that, it does not mean that you should skip the major cleaning, but it is also required, but not every week.

Big mistake – that’s why your home is messy

Marléne Eriksson continues by talking about a common mistake that can lead to not getting the cleaning done.

    – I think that many people magnify the task, which means that it becomes nothing at all. They believe that you will have to make a huge effort as soon as it needs to be cleaned. That’s not true. Instead, keeping up a little all the time is much easier, and the probability that the cleaning will be done is higher if the threshold is not so high.

To avoid enlarging the task, it is good to focus only on one room at a time. If you are very short on time, there are two particular rooms that should be prioritized, according to Marléne.

    – If I were to choose only two rooms to clean, it would be the kitchen and the bathroom for the simple reason that they are the rooms exposed to the most dirt and bacteria.

This is how you should think when you clean – reward yourself

It is also important to change your mindset around cleaning – and give yourself a reward afterwards.

    – I usually turn on music and see it as a workout. All exercise is good exercise, so I see vacuuming as a very good exercise, Marléne Eriksson tells Nyheter24 and concludes:

    – Then I think it’s also very good not to take on the whole home at once as it can easily feel overwhelming, take one room at a time instead. “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. And don’t forget to treat yourself to something good afterwards, a good coffee or cup of coffee and take the opportunity to enjoy yourself. It is important!
