In November announced Central study support board (CSN) that the government has decided that the student loan interest rate for 2025 will be 1.981 percent.
– The student loan is still one of the most advantageous loans you can take out. The loan comes with several security rules and is available to anyone who needs help financing their studies. Student loan interest remains comparatively low and CSN has no profit interest, says Patrick Peippoinvestigator at CSN, in the message.
But those who want and meet the requirements can receive additional study funds.

They can receive SEK 4,156 more in student aid
You who are over 25 years of age and who previously had an income amounting to at least 415 percent of the price base amount that applies to the year in which the studies begin, which was SEK 57,300 in 2024, can get an additional loan during your study period.
This means that you get an extra SEK 1,039 a week, i.e. SEK 4,156 over a four-week period.
The supplement is primarily aimed at older people who might otherwise be discouraged from studying due to the low income during the study period.
– If you have worked and had income before your studies, you often have greater costs. You may have a family, loans to pay, and then it can be challenging to get the regular student funds to be enough. But despite that, only half take advantage of the supplement.
– A new study from CSN shows that a quarter of all students with student loans are entitled to supplementary supplementary loans, but that only half of them use it, he says.
