The method used to join the pipes is called electric socket welding.
“SHK’s investigation shows that the fire probably started in connection with these works. The fire then spread from the pipes to the water slide and on to the facility and caused extensive damage,” the Accident Commission writes in an interim report.
One person died in the fire that broke out on February 12 this year.
Ongoing investigation
The investigation is still ongoing and is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2025. A large number of people have been interviewed, technical investigations have been carried out and meetings have been held with organizations and authorities.
“SHK’s investigation will now focus on the questions of why the accident could occur and what measures can be taken to prevent a similar incident from occurring again,” it writes further.
The water park was supposed to open this summer. After the fire, a decision was made to rebuild the adventure pool. It should be ready in 2026.
