That’s how much the Swedish WC heroes earned – Frida Karlsson reveals what Ebba Andersson will buy: “A really fat one”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Swedish national skiing team made a historic WC.
Now comes the reward when the winnings are revealed.
– I can actually be honest about that, admits WC queen Ebba Andersson to DN.

The Swedish national team managed to collect a total of twelve medals during the 2023 World Ski Championships in Planica. 4 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze were brought home to Sweden when the national skiing team made history with the most medals in a championship.

The reward in the WC

The blue and yellow great success has also resulted in great rewards for our WC riders. The person who brought in the most prize money was of course the WC queen Ebba Anderssonwho won two WC golds and two WC bronzes.

The 25-year-old collected as much as just over SEK 600,000 in pure prize money from the International Ski Federation, FIS. In addition to that sum, Andersson will also receive an additional reward from the Swedish Skiing Association, which pays out 150,000 kroner for gold, 75,000 kroner for silver and 50,000 kroner for bronze.

Ebba’s prize money

Money that will be put to good use by the skiers in their continued ventures, see all WC skiers’ prize money below.
– We want to create interest and reward the talented riders and make sure that money is available like a carrot. That is an aim on our part and we will continue with it. It will be an incredibly successful season and a lot of money to be paid out. But we do that with great pleasure, says the long distance manager Lars Öberg to Dagens Nyheter.

All together means that Ebba Andersson will pull in close to a million for the most impressive effort in the World Ski Championships.
– I can actually be honest about that and say that it is secondary. This is what matters the most, and the hard work that lies behind it, says the Swede to the daily, showing off one of her gold medals from the WC.

But the big question now is of course what “Guld-Ebba” will do for his million reward in prize money. One who has the perfect answer to that is the teammate Frida Karlssonwho will receive SEK 425,000 from Fis and another roughly SEK 200,000 from the Swedish Skiing Association.
– No, I’ll figure it out a bit. Do you have any suggestions, Frida?, says Ebba and turns to her teammate.
– Yes, maybe a really fat Ferrari. It would be fun to see Ebba come sliding in one like that, says Frida with a laugh to DN.
