The fact that petrol and diesel are quite expensive is something that most people who have refueled their car recently are acutely aware of, not least considering how the prices of petrol and diesel have risen in recent decades.

The big oil giants also belong to some of the most valuable companies in the world.

One can then wonder how much the big Swedish gas station chains earn when we fill up our cars.

New analysis has the answer

The Swedish Competition Authority is in the process of reviewing the fuel market, and as part of this has looked at how the profitability of the fuel companies has developed over time.

If you refuel the car with 50 liters of petrol, a gross profit of SEK 1.42 per liter means a gross profit for refueling of SEK 71

If you fill up 50 liters of diesel with a gross profit of SEK 1.05 per liter, this means a gross profit for the refueling of SEK 52.5.
