On November 1, the tobacco tax will be lowered, making snus cheaper. At the same time, the prices of cigarettes are rising even more.

Snus will be cheaper on November 1
When the autumn budget was presented, it was stated, among other things, that the flight tax would be abolished completely. According to Stefan Westerbergprivate economist at Länsförsäkringar, this change can increase the price of plane tickets to, for example, the United States by SEK 325. At the same time, flights within Sweden will be SEK 82 cheaper, he said in an interview with SVT.
The Tidö parties and the Sweden Democrats must also lower the tax on fuel and the tax on ISK and KF accounts, according to the autumn budget.

2024 is coming to an end, but before it turns into the new year, the tobacco tax must be lowered. Swedish Match Nordic CEO Anette Rosengren welcome the announcement.
– The reduced tax on snus combined with the increased tax on cigarettes makes it easier for existing smokers to leave cigarettes in favor of the smoke-free and less harmful alternative, snus, says Rosenberg to News24.
One of the reasons for the reduction in the tobacco tax is the new Swedish line on harm minimization, explains Rosengren.
– Harm minimization in the tobacco area is about reducing tobacco harm by getting smokers to quit or if they don’t want to get away from the most harmful products, cigarettes, to smoke-free products, she tells Nyheter24.

SEK 3 cheaper per can on average
On average, a snuff box will be three kroner cheaper, but the price between different brands and varieties varies. Nyheter24 has found out how much cheaper the most popular doses will be.
Swedish Match refers to the Snusbolaget, which has compiled a list of the new prices of various snus brands after November 1. The price reductions apply per ten-pack.
