Of the nearly 16,000 entries, roughly 13,000 started in the Vätternrundan. By 5pm on Saturday, around 8,300 cyclists had finished and 386 had broken.
– Of course, there have also been many tired eyes and numb legs. This is a tough challenge, one of the toughest things you can do as an exerciser. And the heat has taken its toll, so there are many who deserve a big pat on the back today, says Oskar Sundblad.
The Vätternrun is 31.5 miles long and when the cyclists came to the depot in Jönköping to fill up on water and energy, they had 21 miles left. In the clip below, you can hear some of those who stopped there for a short break.
