One couple chose to terminate the experiment early and the other three couples agreed to continue as married.
But how did it go after the recordings of Married at First sight?
Now this year’s participants tell us what happened after the program!
This year’s season of Married at First sight is over. One of the couples chose to cancel their participation earlier than planned – and the three remaining couples all chose to remain in the marriage. But what happened when the cameras went off? In the very last episode, all of this year’s participants have gathered almost a year later.
What happened between Alex and Lina?
Alex and Lina both agreed to stay married and build on their relationship. After the recordings were over, Lina jumped on a train straight away to Alex in Malmö. But once there, it didn’t take long before it broke and Lina left to go home to Gothenburg again. After that, it only became more difficult for them to try to meet each other and the relationship ended.
Today both Alex and Lina have met love. Alex has a girlfriend who lives in Stockholm and Lina a guy who lives in Falkenberg with whom she plans to buy a house – and so she is a bonus mother of two.
– How happy I am, notes Alex about everything that has happened in Lina’s life, and Lina says the same about Alex.
Stina and Fredrik are still married
From what we could see from the outside, things were pretty frictionless between Stina and Fredrik throughout the season, and things have more or less continued that way for the couple after they both agreed to continue their journey as married people. Today they are still husband and wife.
During the final reunion, Stina tells the gang about when Fredrik said he loved her for the first time – at the top of a Ferris wheel in Poland.
– Fredrik behaved very strangely all day. He was so nervous – and when we were at the very top, he said “I love you!”, says Stina.
When TV4 reaches Stina, she tells them that the couple is renovating their shared apartment, that the planning for the summer vacation is in full swing – and also the planning for a wedding party this fall.
– We have many friends and large families who are very tight-knit, so it was difficult to only select ten people each during our wedding. We want to celebrate love with everyone we love and do it our way, she says.
Fredrik describes the time after the program as “more than he could have dreamed of” and the expectations for what is to come are high.
– We have been looking forward to this summer for a long time. It has been a special year in many ways, what we did in one year people usually do for several years. It has gone super fast. It will be nice to land in the apartment and have a summer together where we can focus on ourselves, says Fredrik.
Ida and Arvid have become parents
In the very last episode, we could see that Arvid appeared on a bicycle, without Ida. Something that made the remaining participants a little puzzled about how things really are between Ida and Arvid today, until Ida does show up – heavily pregnant.
In September of last year, Ida passed the test and at the end of the last episode we will see when the couple’s daughter Rakel comes into the world. She was born the day after Ida and Arvid’s wedding day, who got married on June 13 last year.
– We went in at 11 p.m. on June 12, then she had 25 hours to look out. But the birth took 26 hours. She wanted to have her own day, not share a day with mom and dad’s wedding day, says Arvid to TV4.
– We said that if it turns out to be a real little naughty seed, she will be called Rakel, and she has been fighting since day one! he continues.
Ida tells us that happiness is total.
– I am so happy! I thought it would be tougher, and maybe it will be, but she is so kind – and me and Arvid are such an incredibly good team. Most things are easier when you are in love, crazy and happy, says Ida to TV4.
– The first few days I thought I had a borrowed baby, but she is far too similar to both of us to be, she continues.
However, hiding the pregnancy from the outside world proved to be a bit of a challenge.
– A couple of weeks ago people came up to me and asked if it was true that Ida was pregnant and then I had to say “that would be something!”. But then they had sneaky photos of us when we were out for a walk, says Arvid.
– When we were at BB, a doctor said “yeah, then this was spoiled”!
Carro and Agust reconcile during the reunion
Carro and Agust didn’t really make their relationship work, so it wasn’t frictionless – something that ultimately made them decide to stop the experiment earlier than the other couples. But when Carro and Agust meet again a year later, it will be something unexpected, they can meet in a way that they failed to do during their five weeks together.
As the whole gang watches the episode where the final decisions are made, Carro asks for an “Agust hug” and sits down next to him.
– We went through that shit together, no matter how it went and it wasn’t what any of us expected, but for me it’s so fucking important that none of us is angry at the other, says Carro.
When TV4 reaches Agust, he tells more about the meeting with Carro during the reunion.
– It felt good, we let the guard down and it was very unexpected and felt most surprising, but I’m a fairly easy-going person and don’t hold any grudges. It was just nice, he says.
And Agust and Carro got more time together than was shown to viewers.
– Then we went downstairs and talked more later in the evening, then we could talk relaxed and deeply for the first time. But it was unfortunately not filmed, says Agust.
