As many manufacturers struggle to navigate strict emissions regulations, AMG’s interpretation of the S-Class stands out as a true standout.

DON’T MISS: Our podcast about cars – Under the Hood
The Mercedes-AMG S 63 balances sportiness and luxury
With an Affalterbach-built V8 under the hood and an elegantly long body, the S 63 exudes poise.
The test car is equipped with highly polished forged 21-inch rims, which together with the graphite gray magno paint create a visual harmony. For the uninitiated, magno means that the color is matte.
The Mercedes-AMG S 63 strives to unite two of Mercedes’ core values: luxury and sport. This combination is evident in the interior, where open-pore walnut meets carbon-ceramic brake discs, and a hand-built V8 produces 612 horsepower.
For the driver, this means that the car’s sporty side feels just as appealing as its luxurious rear seat comfort. AMG’s signature is clear – a combination of exceptional performance and the highest imaginable comfort.

Electrification for performance
The latest generation of the S 63 goes one step further with an advanced hybrid system. An electric motor mounted on the rear axle delivers 190 horsepower, which together with the combustion engine gives a total effect of 802 horsepower. The torque reaches a staggering 1,400 Nm.
The 13.1 kWh battery offers a range of around three miles, but the biting winter cold in the Alps means that we focus on performance instead.

Top class customization
Behind the steering wheel, you are greeted by sienna brown nappa leather seats and a multitude of options to adjust the seating comfort, where even the tightness of the side bolsters is adjustable.
The test car is equipped with Mercedes Manufaktur accessories, which offer a tailored interior experience with a sense of lavish craftsmanship.
AMG’s typical mini-displays at the steering wheel make it easy to customize driving modes and other important settings. During today’s driving, the sportier mode and the anti-skid system adjustments prove to be particularly relevant.

From soft to tight
On snow-covered roads, the S 63 delivers a firmer driving experience than you would expect from an S-Class.
The long wheelbase, active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel steering work together to create a dynamic driving experience, especially in the challenging hairpin bends.
Despite the massive weight of over 2,500 kilograms, the car is incredibly easy to handle thanks to AMG’s sophisticated chassis and the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system.

The Mercedes-AMG S 63 is a real sledgehammer
Although an S 580 e or S 400 d may appear as more rational choices, the AMG version makes a pronounced statement. The combination of luxury and sport is AMG’s signature – a paradox that has defined their DNA ever since the “Red Pig,” their first racing car based on the 300 SEL.
The modern interpretation of this DNA in the S 63 is a car that combines electrified technology and classic performance to create one of the most dynamic S-Class versions ever.
For long journeys across continents, with both style and speed, this is a choice that is hard to beat.
