“That’s actually pretty smart” – Player finds simple trick to save valuable inventory space

A lot of loot is both a blessing and a curse – Diablo 4 players quickly encounter the problem of an overcrowded inventory. One of them found a smart trick to save valuable space.

Jewels clogging up inventory has been a recurring criticism for some time. Players are bothered that they have to reserve at least 7 slots in inventory if they want to collect all 7 species – even more so when different grades drop.

Here’s a trick that comes in handy.

What’s the trick to freeing up space? On the Diablo subreddit, u/Born_Pension_8210 notes in his post that combining items together can save valuable space. Many pieces of equipment have empty sockets that you can use jewels in.

He writes:

If you need a few extra inventory slots to hold everything before heading back to town, place jewels in gear that you’ll be dismantling. Unsocked gems are free to carve.

Here you can see a before and after comparison. You can simply drag the gems onto the gear items that have an empty socket:

Many Reddit users are enthusiastic about his idea, because it’s quick, it’s actually totally obvious and super helpful.

“That’s actually pretty smart,” writes user minor_thing2022 on the subreddit. Rubicon2-0 jokes: “HOTFIX in progress – server offline! People are starting to use too much inventory space! WARNING! WARNING!”

Here is an overview of what you should recycle or sell:

Why is loot becoming a problem? Of course it’s always great when you find lots of weapons, armor pieces, jewels and potions. But sometimes there is so much lying around after a fight that there is no more space in your inventory and you have to sort it out.

You would prefer to take the entire loot with you. On the one hand you could use the items, on the other hand you need the materials when you decompose them. Selling would also bring in money, which is needed for repairs and upgrades, among other things.

Removing jewels from equipment that you want to keep using costs gold. However, dismantling items that you no longer need is free and leaves the jewel in your inventory.

Of course, an extra bag or an extra category in the inventory, such as for potions, would be even more helpful. By the way, these play an important role if you want to level up faster.
