“That was my worst moment”: Henry Cavill injured himself so brutally while filming The Witcher that it almost cost him his career

That was my worst moment Henry Cavill injured himself so

Be it as Superman in Man of Steel or as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher – Henry Cavill takes the roles he takes on seriously and gives it his all. The fact that he is a fan of fantasy worlds is evident in his playing and in the interviews he gives. Also He wants to do most of his own stunts. Henry Cavill’s most brutal accident wasn’t even during a serious stunt.

Henry Cavill tore his Achilles tendon while running through the forest

With all the stunts and action scenes Cavill did on The Witcher, of all things a simple scene of him running through the forestwhich had the greatest consequences. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich opened up about the injury:

I remember Henry stopping for a moment and we all wondering, ‘Did he trip? Was there a stone?’

In fact, the actor had torn the Achilles tendon – a nightmare for everyone and especially for action stars. The tear was severe and Cavill was in immense pain. He was lucky that the tendon had not separated from the bone. If that had happened and the recovery hadn’t gone as planned, it could have cost him his career.

Physiotherapy followed – while filming the second season of The Witcher. Every morning before filming begins At 7 a.m., Cavill had to get up and do a workout to properly recover. He kept his fans updated on his Instagram account:

At the same time, the shooting schedule was rearranged. All action scenes were postponed so that Cavill could recover as much as possible before wielding the sword again. However, this was very difficult for the actor:

The difficulty was that I had to work while I was injured. Because I wanted to do more for the production – I know how important it was for them to get things done. So it was about finding the balance between ‘Yeah, let’s push, push, push’ and ‘Wait a minute, if I keep tearing this up it’ll be the end of my action career’. That was my worst moment last year – professionally.

Luckily, Henry Cavill was able to recover and finish all The Witcher filming. In season 4, Liam Hemsworth will still take the sorcerer’s swords into his hands.

But that has nothing to do with the Achilles tendon, because Henry Cavill voluntarily left the project to devote himself to other films and series. He’s been working on a live-action series for years Warhammer 40,000where hopefully there will be no serious injuries.
