The sentiment seems to be well aware with Marvel director Taika Waititi (Thor 4) for his Star Wars film. And I want to go in a whole new direction.

He told Gamesradar:
The Star Wars universe needs to expand. It’s no good if I make a movie where everyone says, “Great, these are the Millennium Falcon blueprints! There’s Chewbacca’s grandmother!” It’s all great, but I want to bring in new characters and those [Star Wars-] expand world. Otherwise, the whole story feels so small.

Waititi’s position is not unfounded. After the last Star Wars film trilogy, the most recent Disney+ series also continued many of the well-known foundations of the Skywalker saga. The Marvel creator could come up with an unconventional approach introduce the innovations that many fans are hoping for.

However, it will still be some time before that happens. There is no exact date for Waititi’s project yet. But we count end of 2023 with his Star Wars movie.
