Urheilu’s skiing expert Ville Nousiainen was eighth on Sunday in the Rampa con i Campioni competition. In it, the legendary final climb of the Tour de Ski, Alpe Cermis, is played out before the current stars get away in the actual race.

A Swiss who has won the overall Tour de Ski four times in his active career Dario Cologne was number one.

Cologna recorded the final rise at 31.29.9. Nousainen beat Cologna by 1 minute and 35.5 seconds.

Nousiainen got ahead of the Norwegian Peter of Northug scalp. One of the best cross-country skiers of all time was fourth in the competition.

Nousiainen bent about 51.9 seconds to Northug.

– That bastard ran away when the first steeps started. I gave space and said go ahead. I started to weld. He aimed for the top group. The whole time I saw him a few hundred meters away, but there was no final scream, Nousiainen said.

Kimmo Porttila was following Nousiainen’s advances with a steep. Alpe Cermis was such a blood-curdling wrinkle that Nousiainen was unable to communicate to the reporter.

But even Petter Northugga didn’t look fresh after the wrinkle.

– It didn’t falter either, and I certainly didn’t falter either, Nousiainen said.

Nousiainen, who hurt Alpe Cermis five times in his skiing career, had last done the same trick 11 years ago in 2014.

Now I felt worse than then. Nousiainen was in the leading group when the competitors left the Tesero ski stadium towards Alpe Cermis.

– When the first climb started, it felt really easy. Two or three minutes of that, and I was completely out of breath. Little by little, the musculature too. I always wondered when it would be steep and when it would end. Yes, it finally ended, Nousiainen described.

Is it so that next year again?

– I don’t promise anything, Nousiainen laughed and summarized the essence in a funny way.

Petter Northug described the Norwegian magazine VGthat bad memories and nightmares came to mind during the job.

– But in the end, I’m doing just fine. This was probably one of my best bets on this slope. I thought this was a very good performance, Northug told VG.

Of course, the weather matters, but last year even the top men took more than 33 minutes on Alpe Cermis. Nousiainen received help from the Finnish maintenance service on skis.

– The guys gave really nice skis. First of all, I went really well uphill, Nousiainen praised the help of the Finnish team in the Sports Studio an hour after the performance.

Nousiainen boasted that he had also taken one hard scalp, when the runner-up of the 2014 Tour de Ski Chris Jespersen was left behind.
