The loss of life continues to increase in the flood and landslide disaster that has occurred due to heavy rains that have been effective since 25 May in Pernambuco state in the northeast of Brazil. In the statement made by the Brazilian government, it was reported that as a result of the search and rescue efforts carried out to find the people who disappeared in the disasters, the dead bodies of 126 people have been reached so far and 2 people are still missing.

Pernambuco state officials announced that the disaster caused destruction in 51 cities, especially in the city of Recife, and declared a state of emergency in 31 cities, while a total of 111 shelters were established across the state for homeless citizens.
