Ahead of the theatrical release of Avatar 2: The Way of Water, director James Cameron himself is convinced that his sci-fi blockbuster set new standards in effect technology becomes. For comparison, he has once again used the most successful cinema phenomenon of the last 10 years to give the Marvel universe another dig.

James Cameron badmouths Marvel effects compared to Avatar 2
As Variety reports, the Avatar 2 director spoke to reporter Brandon Davis about whether he Inspired by the special effects from recent Marvel movies became wanting to set the bar higher again. Cameron starts off cautiously, saying that the increased demand for effects artists has meant that more talented people are available than ever.
He then compares his avatar team WETA Effects to Industrial Light & Magic who are responsible for the Marvel effects and comes to one clear conclusion with MCU broadside:
WETA Effects, as it’s now called, is the best. Right? Industrial Light & Magic does a great job though when it comes to the emotional facial features we do. Thanos? Come on, leave me alone. You have [Avatar 2: The Way of Water] seen. It’s not even close to that.
A few weeks ago, Cameron criticized Marvel and DC. would come for him interpersonal relationships in the superhero films too short and everyone would act like they were still in college the whole time.
We will finally find out whether Avatar 2 trumps the MCU in terms of content and visuals December 14th. Then Avatar 2: The Way of Water starts in German cinemas.
