In the games of the Pokémon series, everyone has their personal favorites. Meinmmo author Paul Kutzner thinks back a very special copy in his collection.
Every trainer who played the first generation of Pokémon on the Game Boy in childhood probably still knows the old rumors that were about the mysterious Pokémon Mew. One of the best -known theories was probably that it is under the truck near the MS Anne.
There were also similar rumors in the 2nd generation, this time regarding the mysterious Pokémon Celebi. There was one way to get the monster in our latitudes regularly and without the help of cheats. And that’s exactly what I could use as a child.

6 dates, 6 cities, 1 Pokémon
How could you get Celebi? In the course of the appearance of Pokémon Kristall, the so-called Celebi tour took place on 6 dates in 6 different cities in Germany on 6 dates in 6 different cities in Germany. Trainers were able to drop by with their 2nd generation games and give them to the Nintendo employees.
These then put the games in a device, which then made sure that a Celebi was transferred to the scores. It was the only official and legitimate way to get the Celebi in Germany without using cheats or bugs.
Small monster, big children’s eyes: Since my father was very attentive, he had found out about this tour in advance and asked me if that would not be interesting for me. Since it was of course interesting for little Paul, we went there together.
After I had given my Golden Edition to the Nintendo employees, it only took a few seconds to get my game back. Of course I had to put my game directly into the Game Boy Color. And indeed: in my Pokémon box there was a small Celebi at level 5.
It is unnecessary to mention that I was more than happy about it. Not only that I liked the Pokémon very much anyway. It was finally the rarest Pokémon, which was to be collected in this generation. And I had it. Without any cheats or other help. A legitimate Celebi.
The hero in the Freundeskreis: In the golden and silver edition there was the so-called clone trick, which most players should also still know. It was possible to reproduce Pokémon.
Since all my friends naturally also wanted Celebi, I cloned the Pokémon and distributed it in the circle of friends. So we could all be happy about the monster. But I knew that only my Celebi is the original copy preserved by Nintendo.
Even if the score has not survived and the Celebi is no longer in my possession today, I still like to think back about it. And I am grateful to my dad that I received the Pokémon because of it. Thanks, dad.
I like to think back not only to the Celebi in the main games of the 2nd generation. There are also memories of a time with regard to Pokémon GO that is still unforgettable and which unfortunately will never come back in this form: Pokémon Go’s best time will never come back.
