A stroke occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is reduced or interrupted. Temporary or permanent damage occurs in the part of the stroke. In case of stroke, early detection can reduce the effects of stroke. Catherine Fahey, 34, who lives in the United States, suffered a stroke while sleeping. Her husband, Kyle Fahey, realized that he had a serious problem with his wife. Carrying his wife, Kyle took him to the nearest hospital.
SEEING HIS FACE drooping
Kyle Fahey, a 34-year-old chief maintenance engineer, noticed his wife Catherine’s face “drooping” and rushed her to the nearest hospital after lifting her onto her shoulder like a firefighter. The 34-year-old mother was sleeping in bed when her husband realized something was seriously wrong early in the morning on the couple’s 13th anniversary.
When he woke up, his speech was broken
At 1 a.m. on September 19, he had woken his wife to report that the children were in bed, but noticed that her mouth was noticeably drooping on the left side and her speech was impaired. After being told the ambulance would take two hours, Mr. Fahey carried his wife to their car and took her to the hospital. There, doctors announced that Fahey had suffered a stroke and was given a vital medicine that worked most effectively in the first four-hour window.
KNOWING HIS WIFE VERY WELL, HE RECOGNIZED THE SYMPTOM IMMEDIATELY
Due to her husband’s quick thinking, Catherine spent only two days in the hospital and has since made an incredible recovery, surprising the doctors who treated her.
“Kyle absolutely saved my life. It’s amazing how he knew that,” says Ms. Fahey. Ms. Fahey, who has been together since the age of 19 and married at age 21, believes that she knew his wife very well and helped Mr. Fahey realize the change in life.
MAY BE CAUSED BY JOB STRESS
Because of her age and dedication to fitness, doctors were surprised by Ms. Fahey’s diagnosis of paralysis. “I’ve had some stress at work lately, and they said it might have something to do with it. I realized that work stress wasn’t worth it. Your health is the most important thing,” Fahey said.
