The best OLED TV for under 1000 euros
For a long time, OLED televisions were an expensive investment and you had to shell out well over 1000 euros for good models. But in the meantime the technology has become more affordable and you can get really good devices for 1000 euros. But if 1000 euros are too much for you, you can save a lot with the LG OLED48A29 without making too many compromises.
The LG OLED is not only really cheap, but has also received a number of top marks. At Stiftung Warentest he came with the Grade 1.8 to second place. In the large Computer image test the 4K television for less than 1000 euros he even became test winner chosen. Above all, the tests praised the outstanding image quality, streaming options and ease of use.
Streaming wonders and operating magic
The LG television is particularly suitable for streaming fans: All the important apps are on board and the streaming experience can be customized with personal accounts. So you save yourself a streaming box or a streaming stick. And with that MagicRemote you are in the menu of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Co. at lightning speed. The Magic Remote is a kind of remote control, keyboard, mouse and scroll wheel in one and has the language assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrated. Hardly any manufacturer offers such a simple and intuitive operating concept as LG.
That’s the difference to more expensive TVs. Of course, the cheap LG can’t have all the features of a premium device. The picture quality is really impressive, but the display could be brighter. Even at maximum brightness, it can be difficult to see in bright living rooms during the day.
Enthusiasts might also be bothered by the low refresh rate of 50 to 60 hertz. More expensive devices, for example, offer a refresh rate of 100/120 Hz and can therefore display movements much softer. This is especially important for gamers or sports fans.
You also have to make compromises when it comes to the connections: There is no headphone output and the HDMI connections are not up to the latest HDMI 2.1 standard. This enables higher frame rates and is therefore particularly interesting for gamers.
As an alternative, we can recommend the LG OLED CS, which offers everything that the A29 lacks and is also a great value for money. The 55-inch version is available from Amazon for a fair 1099 euros*.
