Test of the Oppo Reno13 Pro 5G: a shiny telephone, in every sense of the word

Test of the Oppo Reno13 Pro 5G a shiny telephone

TEST. Oppo does not waste his time. Eight months after the release of the Reno12 Pro 5G, the Chinese brand returns to the market with its new Reno13 Pro 5G. And Oppo seems to have applied.

Oppo Return to the mobile market with its Reno13 Pro 5G. The mid -range smartphone, available for 799.9 euros, has been entrusted to us for several weeks, the opportunity for us to share a full test on the product.

At first glance, the Reno13 Pro 5G seems not very useful, compared to its predecessor, the Reno12 Pro 5G, released just ten months ago. Despite this short gap between the two smartphones, Oppo managed to renew itself in depth, bringing notable developments that we really liked. Ultimately, the Reno13 Pro 5G made us eye and did not fail to please us, even if it is important to highlight its few black dots.

The recap of our reno13 pro 5G test
  • An original design, magical and pleasant
  • A screen who does his job very well
  • Perfect autonomy and enduring
  • A good quality camera
  • A Coloros interface always as bad

An original design, with glitter

Let’s be clear: the Reno13 Pro 5G has a design to say the least. With its mate shell with brilliant and iridescent reflections, we enjoyed Oppo’s smartphone. The butterfly wing shape appearing on its back according to the surrounding reflections of light is a real asset.

Pleasant to the touch and holding no finger brand, the Reno13 Pro 5G does not take a single side in terms of design, even if its unique look could perhaps put off a few. The reno line has always been characterized by its visual singularity, which has become a signature. Oppo has offered its smartphone under two different shades, black graphite and purple butterfly, which both work very well. It was with this last color that we were able to test the Reno13 Pro 5G.

Oppo’s smartphone benefits from an aluminum frame with rounded edges, such as its predecessor, the reno12 pro. The Reno13 Pro also offers a screen with discreetly curved edges, a trend that is becoming scarce in the mobile market, but which works well for the OPPO model. Overall, the smartphone offers a solid and premium look that never tires.

Big change in view concerning the rear photo block, which abandons the three sensors placed vertically, as was the case with the reno12 pro. This time, Oppo opted for two large round plates arranged alongside another much more discreet, oval shape. All three are arranged on a thin glass brochure, joined by the torch lamp, also adopting an original oval shape. Despite the fact that the camera blocks are placed on the left side, we did not suffer from large imbalances when the phone was placed on the back.

In addition to its elegance, the Reno13 Pro 5G shows solidity. Certified IP66, IP68 and IP69, the Oppo smartphone resists dust as well as water jets. We should also mention the screen, protected by Gorilla Glass 7i glass (even if several scratches quickly traced their way on the latter). A solidity which contradicts the finesse of the reno13 pro 5G, of 7.55 millimeters.

A screen that is not half-measure

Regarding the screen, the Reno 13 Pro 5G is once again very pleasant. Reaching 6.83 inches, it offers a very large size (even larger than its predecessor and its 6.7 inches) and allows excellent immersion. An immersion all the more powerful as the black borders are very discreet. The front camera is also very small, two good points that we really enjoyed during our test.

The graphic quality of the AMOLED screen of the Reno13 Pro 5G is there, with a resolution reaching 2800 x 1272. The smartphone incorporates a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. You can nevertheless configure it so that it is limited to 60 or 90 Hz.

The brightness of the screen adapts perfectly to the environment in which you are, whether it is a big day or dark night. Even at the little alarm clock, the reno13 pro 5G does not attract the sleeping eyes: a quality that is not necessarily found on all smartphones and which deserves to be underlined here. It is a shame, however, that the maximum brightness of the screen is limited to 1600 nits.

Finally, the Reno13 Pro 5G incorporates a facial recognition system as well as an efficient fingerprint sensor, allowing the smartphone to unlock quickly and without problem.

Perfectly sufficient performance

Embarking a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor, it is certain that the Reno13 Pro 5G could have done better. However, during our test, it turned out that the performance of the Oppo smartphone was far from bad or simply acceptable. The Reno12 Pro 5G was able to run gourmet resource games like Human impact, Without freezes or any problems, even with high quality graphics.

On the other hand, we deplore the countless pre-deported applications on the Reno13 Pro, which invade the screen from the first glance on the smartphone. ALIEXPRESS, TEMU, AMAZON, NETFLIX, TIKTOK … So many software for certain unwanted or even undesirable that we advise you to delete immediately. The operating system of the OPPO smartphone, Coloros, also incorporates a dozen games of all kinds, which can invade you with notifications.

A quality camera

As specified above, the Reno13 Pro 5G has three rear cameras: a main objective and a 50 MP telephoto lens, as well as an ultra-angle of 8 Mpx. Overall, the Oppo smartphone provides very good shots. This is the case with regard to the main sensor, which captures moments of life with detail and color loyalty.

The great angle is also remarkable for its details and its quality of photography. However, we note a certain bright halo around the buildings when the ambient brightness is high. A detail that does not always go unnoticed.

The Reno13 Pro 5G incorporates an optical zoom of 3.5x and a digital zoom reaching 120x. Thanks to artificial intelligence, even the most distant elements manage to remain clear, despite an obvious loss of quality.

Artificial intelligence also plays a role in publishing photographs, thanks to the presence of four features: “Improve the clarity”, “Gum IA”, “Delete blur” and “Delete reflections”. Tools could not be more interesting that are very efficient, most of the time.

Exceptional autonomy

Regarding autonomy, Oppo goes to a higher notch. The Chinese brand includes a 5800 mAh battery for its Reno13 Pro 5G, much better than that of its predecessor which only reached 5000 mAh. A clear improvement that allows you to offer a smartphone capable of holding over time. In fact, the Reno13 Pro 5G is very enduring, the screenshot testifies below.

As you can see, the Reno13 Pro 5G loses very little battery during the days of use, weakening the day of March 8, the record of the week. It is therefore not necessary to recharge the Oppo smartphone every day, as its autonomy is remarkable and appreciable. This is undoubtedly one of the most enduring devices on the market.

The Reno13 PRO 5G can recover its battery very quickly, thanks to its ultra-fast load at 80W, which saves 100% in only forty minutes. However, we deplore the incompatibility of the smartphone with the wireless load capacity.

Connectivities and communications

As with all the phones released on the market recently, the Reno13 Pro is compatible with Bluetooth 5.4, 5G and Wi-Fi 6. Unfortunately, the Oppo smartphone does not include Wi-Fi 7.

The quality of telephone calls is impeccable. No problem has been seen with recognition and association with connected objects, such as wireless headphones.

Our conclusion

The Reno13 Pro 5G therefore presents itself as a powerful and complete smartphone in all areas. With its original design, its good photo quality or its exceptional battery, the Oppo device is very good. There is no shortage of qualities and compete with higher -end competitors.

Proposed at 799 euros, the reno13 pro does not correspond to all budgets, without being inaccessible. Oppo’s smartphone, in addition to presenting a relatively wise price on the mobile market, is not lacking in assets and qualities. This is why we can only recommend it to you.
