Swedish crayfish contain high levels of PFAS chemicals. Anyone who eats more than a handful of crayfish on the crayfish slice can ingest more PFAS than is appropriate in a week.
PFAS have been called “forever chemicals”, because the substances do not break down in nature.
It has long been known that fish from lakes can contain PFAS. Now a test shows that this also applies to cancers.
The research company Test facts analyzed eight brands of crayfish, fresh or deep-frozen, that are sold in Swedish stores. The test showed that Swedish crayfish contained high levels of PFAS.
In the clip above tells Åke Bergman, professor of environmental chemistry, why you should preferably leave Swedish crayfish. And which options are better.
