Tesla’s new software update improves charging efficiency

Teslas new software update improves charging efficiency

Tesla has started sending out a new software update to its cars, labeled 2022.40.1. It is rolling out now and this update comes with a number of various improvements.

Perhaps most importantly, it is a promised improvement in charging efficiency when using both the Tesla Supercharger and other Tesla non-DC fast chargers. This is because the company has updated the thermal controls to account for each charging station’s power output.

Tesla says about the update:

“During DC fast charging, thermal system controls are optimized for the power capacity of each charging station, improving both charging and on-road battery preconditioning efficiency. This results in fast charging times and lower energy costs.”

So you get faster charging and lower energy costs, at least on paper. Who wouldn’t want this combination? Next, the company added a Driver Door Unlock Mode toggle – if enabled, it lets you press and hold the lock button on the driver’s door to unlock all the doors and open the trunk at the same time. If you press the button only once, the driver’s door will unlock and nothing more.

Moving on, you can now enable Sentry Mode and Dog Mode at the same time, and if you do this the alarm sounds will be disabled, but you will still be alerted if there is a potential problem. Sentry Mode still records and records video, only the loud alarm won’t go off to frighten your dog.

Finally, the built-in media player can now display radio station logos, making it easy to find what you’re looking for.

As always, it will take some time for the software to be released which means it could be a few days (or even weeks) for all tools everywhere to get it.
