There will be a “new” Model S in 2022, but it will look a lot like the previous one. Indeed, Tesla is not a fan of restyling in terms of the evolution of its cars. The American manufacturer makes them constantly evolve and is not satisfied with an aesthetic modification halfway through their cycle.
In fact, every year, or almost, and even during the year several elements of a Model 3 or a Model S can change. Customers and observers have become accustomed to vintage Tesla models, although the brand does not practice this practice.
Thus, the 2021 edition marked a major turning point for the Model S, in particular with the arrival of a Plaid model, but also the addition of the Yoke, the famous rectangular steering wheel to name only the most emblematic examples.
Matrix projection headlights and CCS socket
In 2022, the changes will be significantly fewer, and also a little less visible. Indeed, Tesla demonstrated the new version of the Model S in one of its stores in Taiwan. We can see slightly modified front and rear headlights, not in their aesthetics, but in the technology they embed.
The Model S is equipped with matrix projection lights, like its little sister, the Model 3. As for the rear part, only the black rod that connected the optical units disappears.
But the most important change is under the charging hatch, which in the process adopts the design of that of the Model 3. Indeed, the Model S sold from this year will have a new charging socket compatible with the CCS standard, allowing Model S to charge in direct current elsewhere than on Superchargers.
Until now, only the Tesla Model 3 and Y were equipped with this port, on the Model S and X, the adaptation Combo CCS could be invoiced as an option.

The Model S will therefore not experience a second wave of changes in 2022 and for good reason, it had already been particularly upset last year.
On the other hand, it is interesting to note that the only two modifications of this year concern technologies already on board the Model 3.
