It’s a nice marketing move for Tesla, but also information that can be useful if you’re about to go on a winter vacation in an electric car: around thirty Superchargers will be free from February 11 to 27, subject to certain time conditions, however. . Indeed, the Californian manufacturer wants to reduce traffic at the terminals as the winter crossovers approach. As a result, 27 stations will deliver free electricity from Friday to Sunday before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. These are mostly located in eastern France, on the roads leading to the Alps and the Jura. The objective for Tesla, in addition to offering a nice publicity stunt, is obviously to regulate traffic by making it more interesting to charge outside peak hours.

The manufacturer thus hopes to modify the behavior of some of its users and avoid creating queues on its Superchargers. Even having to limit the load of the vehicles, which it does regularly when it is necessary to smooth the traffic on its terminals. It is therefore not an excess of generosity, but a flow management strategy. Moreover, France is not the only country concerned by this targeted free campaign.
