Tesla didn’t deliver self-driving – now they’re being sued

Tesla didnt deliver self driving now theyre being sued

More specifically, it is according to The Telegraph several Tesla customers in the UK who have started seeing red.

Total self-driving capability is the most advanced version of Tesla’s Autopilot self-driving system.

From the start, the idea has been that cars equipped with Total Self-Driving Capability should be continuously updated when new functions become available and approved for use on public roads.

However, some of the system’s intended functions are now delayed by several years.

Has dragged out the time

One of the most central parts of the system that is delayed is auto-steering in city traffic.

While Total Self-Driving doesn’t yet have all the features that have been promised, it’s still an expensive option.

In Great Britain it costs from as much as 5,800 pounds, corresponding to just under 74,000 kroner, and in Sweden the price tag is a whopping 77,000 kroner.

Customers were promised delivery in 2019

The Telegraph has spoken to a number of disgruntled customers who have been waiting years for the self-driving features they were promised and paid for.

Several of the customers paid for the Total Self-Driving feature as early as 2019, and Tesla promised that the cars would be able to drive completely by themselves in city traffic before the end of 2019.

However, this has not materialized, and a customer The Telegraph spoke to reached a settlement with Tesla on the matter after filing a lawsuit.

The car manufacturer had to repay the money for the option and bear the legal costs, and the bill landed at just over 8,000 pounds, equivalent to just over 100,000 kroner.

With the settlement, Tesla wanted the customer to sign not to speak openly about the settlement or help other customers who want to pursue similar lawsuits against the company. However, the customer refused to sign before these conditions were removed from the settlement.

Tesla is also being sued in the US

It is not only in the UK that Tesla has problems related to Total self-driving capabilities.

In the US, where customers who have paid for the system have been given access to a beta version of the “autosteer in city traffic” feature, a class action was launched in September.

The class-action lawsuit accuses Tesla of failing to deliver cars that can drive completely by themselves, which is what it has been marketing.

According to several American media, the response from Tesla’s lawyers was that “failing to realize a long-term, aspirational goal is not fraud”, writes The Telegraph.
