Today, driving long distances with an electric car is not a problem in most cases, as the cars have gained better range and faster charging, and the charging network has been expanded.
However, on days with particularly heavy traffic on popular holiday routes, problems can quickly arise at the charging stations if the cars arrive at a faster rate than they can be charged.
In Malung there was chaos at a Tesla charger on Sunday with extremely long queues, reports say The evening paper.

“150 cars in line”
Jan Fridberg had just been shopping in the center of Malung when he passed the Tesla charger, and saw the long queue.
– There were 150 cars in a queue at the crossing and more were on their way in, he tells Aftonbladet.
Jan Fridberg also drove past the town’s other charging station, where the situation was the same. He himself drives a diesel car, and guesses that life in the queue is not very pleasant.
– 20 minus and then they sit there with poor power and have three, four hours until they can charge. The kids are freezing and you can’t keep the heat on either, he tells Aftonbladet.

Queued for 1.5 hours
One of the motorists who got stuck in the Tesla queue is Jan Olof Löfving.
– We stood for an hour and a half. It was an incredibly long queue. It probably wasn’t the best, I don’t understand why they didn’t do it better, it’s actually 2025 and Tesla cars are nothing new, he tells Aftonbladet.
According to Jan Olov Löfving, the queuing cars were driven by travelers going both to and from the mountains. However, the long queues did not bother him significantly.
– It is too poorly developed at that station, but there was no major danger. It took a while, but that’s how it is. We have a holiday, he tells Aftonbladet.
