(Finance) – The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edward Rixiparticipated in the inauguration of the first 8.5 kilometers of the new line of Third Crossing, with the restart of the train service between Tortona and Novi Ligure (Alessandria). “I’m from Genoa, I did my thesis on the Third Crossing at the University, it was supposed to finish at the beginning of the 2000s, I probably hope to be able to inaugurate it in 2026. But until then I will have no peace, every day, to verify that everyone is doing their duty, from companies to workers. Because these are things that we all do together. Therefore, rather than great debates, we need to do great excavations and great works”, declared the deputy minister who traveled on the maiden voyage from Tortona to Novi Ligure with a stop at the station Pozzolo Formigaro.

“This is what can make the country move forward. And, for this reason, I believe today is a signal important. Because Novi Ligure is reconnected to the rest of the world at a railway level, after the closure of this line for 5 years”, he added.

“So, then, the works will be finished – continued Rixi – with a new concession which we have also brought onto the timetable, which provides that, in parallel with the excavations of the tunnels, the finished railway parts will be equipped and inaugurated. It will allow us to recover approximately year and a half over timetables precedents. This track will be reopened to commuters and then, in 2026definitively connected with the system of Genoa node and will give life to the new one High Speed - High Capacity between Genoa, Milan and then Monte Ceneri and Northern Europe. Today we are restoring continuity and connectivity to a territory that in recent years has had to use other systems and modes of transport. It also means that the attention from the Government. In the next 12 years we have almost 200 billion in investments to renovate the national railway and road system and we need companies to maintain construction times to be free and take on other contracts. Because the country’s production capacity is not infinite.”
