In the surrounding villages, some peasants, shocked by the attack, fled towards the hills. They avoid tracking them, they say, for fear of running into the improvised explosive devices that terrorists use more often.
After the government’s appeal to the populations to work closely with the defense and security forces, village chiefs, notables and religious leaders consult each other, confides a local elected official. They will sensitize the populations to denounce any suspicious individual.
