Terrible situation Watch how the Olympic medalist in somersault landed

The ingredients of a catastrophic situation were seen in the Kumparelasku World Cup. Unlucky Benjamin Cavet survived with a scare and even joked about the episode in the goal area.

In the downhill world cup, in Canada’s Val Saint-Come, a really scary and rare situation was seen on Saturday.

It was about the little finals of the couples, i.e. the fall where places 3 and 4 were decided. The French Benjamin Cavet lost his balance in the high jump. He fell and flew from the jump backwards onto the adjacent track, where he landed Australia Matt Graham.

Graham, a Pyeongchang Olympic silver medalist and multiple World Cup medalist, landed directly on top of Cavet from the jump. The situation had the ingredients for a really serious injury, as Graham was very close to hitting Cavet’s face with his skis.

The situation also made Viaplay’s English narrator silent.

Graham quickly turned to see what had happened to his rival. Two-time World Cup silver medalist Cavet showed with his hand that everything was fine, so the situation was dealt with in a panic.

After this, Graham finished third. Cavet’s entry was disallowed because he drifted onto a competitor’s track, so he was fourth in the race.

In the goal area, the duo still saw the situation as slowing down and wondered what had happened in a good spirit, laughing together.

– I offered you really good pictures, Cavet joked to the photographers in the goal area according to SVT.

The men’s doubles was won by the Canadian star who dominated the sport for years Michael Kingsbury. Swedish Philip Gravenfors lost in the finals to Kingsbury.

In women’s doubles, the number one was Australia, who lead the World Cup Jakara Anthonywho beat USA in the final Jaelin Kaufin. USA in the mini-final Olivia Giaccio defeated Japan Rino Yanagimoto.

A rare flop for Kingsbury

On Friday, an individual competition was held in Val Saint-Come. The men’s race was won by Sweden Walter Wallberg, 23, took the first victory of his career on the same slope a year ago. Canada’s Elliot Vaillancourt was second in the race and Filip Gravenfors completed the Swedish historical success with his third place.

– A magical day, beamed Wallbergwhen two Swedes were on the podium in the same race for the first time.

Kingsbury suffered a rare on-the-job accident on Friday when he fell and finished 13th, his lowest finish since December 2022.

Nine races have now been counted this season, and Kingsbury, 31, has been on the podium every time except for Friday. He has won five of the Games and leads the World Cup.

The top three in the women’s individual competition were Jakara Anthony, Jaelin Kauf and Japinin Hinako Tomitaka.

From Finns Severi Vierelä made it to the final on Friday, but was the last, 16th. Saturday in couples Olli Penttala was the best Finn, 23rd.

Of the Finnish women in Val Saint-Come, there was one Riikka Voutilainen. He was last in the individual competition, i.e. 30th, and 26th in the doubles.
