In RIPD – Rest in Peace Department, Ryan Reynolds plays a deceased police officer who is supposed to ensure law and order in the afterlife. The expensive sci-fi blockbuster went under at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). Surprisingly, it should now with RIPD – Rise of the Damned a second part is coming.
Worse sci-fi flop continues after 9 years – but without Ryan Reynolds
This is reported by Bloody Disgusting, among others. Nothing is known about the story so far an IMDb entry already reveals the cast. There is no sign of Reynolds or co-star Jeff Bridges from the first part. Jake Choi (Succession) and Richard Fleeshman (Sandman) are among the many relatively unknown faces. Paul Leyden, who has primarily directed TV series, is directing.
The sequel comes as a bit of a surprise given the box office results of its predecessor and hasn’t been talked about for a long time. Apart from the financial flop part 1 is ideal for a sequel. Similar to Men in Black, a completely bizarre world is designed here that works according to its own rules and theoretically has many stories ready.
RIPD 2: When is the sequel to the Ryan Reynolds flop coming?
There is no official start for RIPD 2 yet, nothing is known about the status of production. If at least the casting is completed, the film could early 2023 to be published. We expect a direct start for VOD and/or DVD in this country.
